In 2015, Liberty Hill Economic Development Corporation (LHEDC) initiated participation in the Texas Film Commission as a "film friendly" City. Liberty Hill Film Friendly Guidelines were adopted by the LHEDC Board of Directors and City Council, designating the City of Liberty Hill as "film friendly".
These Guidelines require anyone wishing to film a movie, television episode, commercial or training film to submit an application to the City Administrator as representative of LHEDC. The Guidelines give the City Administrator authority to close streets or restrict, if necessary, the use of public property during filming. However, the guidelines do not restrict or give the City Administrator authority over filming on private property – those matters are between the filming company and the property owner. There is no fee for submitting an application or filming in the City of Liberty Hill.
The most recent "film friendly" project in Liberty Hill during 2016, was filming for a Zombie movie in one of Liberty Hill's Historical Homes near Downtown Liberty Hill. For more information, download a complete copy of the guidelines.
